Liber Academy uses principles taught by Oliver DeMille in the book A Thomas Jefferson Education. It is important that parents understand the conceptual basis of the Academy and operation before becoming a member. Reading this book is a recommended before obtaining membership and must be read the first year (provisional membership).
Liber Academy admits families of any race, color, nationality, and origins to all the programs and activities generally made available to members of the commonwealth, depending on commitment to fulfillment of membership requirements and adherence to governing documents.
There are several steps to membership. Any family interested will be invited to an interview with our Parent Representative, our Principle Mentor, and possibly other members of our board. This interview will help determine if our philosophy and methods align with your family. You should plan to read A Thomas Jefferson Education as soon as possible either before or after your interview.
Another great way to get to know Liber families is through park day. Please ask our Parent Rep for details about that throughout the summer.
As you prepare to be a member of Liber Academy, please complete this training that is required of all parent members. https://lemi-u.com/lemi-essential-foundations-registration/
After your interview, you will be informed of either the acceptance or the denial of your application. Upon acceptance, you will be asked to serve in our school as we are not a drop-off organization. There are various ways you may be asked to serve so consider how you may best serve. Options include helping run a junior school project, training and mentoring in a scholar project, serving on committees, and future service on the board.
Final membership requirements include:
