love of learning

The love of learning phase is a very crucial time where parents and mentors should inspire learning, and not require lots of formal work, if any. Children should be allowed to foster their love for learning and be allowed to pursue the things they feel passionate about within reason. 

DaVinci's- Ages 8-10

The class for this age group will be as interest-based as possible.  Mentors may ask students what they would like to study.  Or, mentors will plan based on their interests and "Bring Your Own Genius" to share what they love with the kids.  This can include

history, memorization, literature, writing, art, simulations, presentations, class read alouds and STEM activities. Sometimes, when numbers are low, this class joins the explorers. 

Explorers- Ages 10-12

Explorers are exploring what it may look like to become a scholar.  They may be ready for more opportunities to learn at home and bring what they did to share in class.  They may be asked to prepare a presentation based on something they are interested in at home.  They may be asked to memorize something to pass off in class.  One hundred percent of this is by invitation only, and if a student chooses not to engage, there is no punishment.  For the 2026-2027 year, we will be using a program created by the mentors that will be World Explorers.  They will learn about a different country each month including geography, cuisine, history, and they will even have a passport for their travels.

In some years, we use the Georgics project tailored to this age group as our Explorers project.
