Core phase

ages 0-8

Core phase is the center of a child's individual personality and development. Concepts of self, family, work, and life are established. This is a magical phase when a child should be nurtured and their personality will emerge in response. This will result in happy, interactive, confident children. The Core is developed through family structure and flow, work and play, lessons exemplifying good and bad, right and wrong, true and false.

Scholarly pursuits are not at the forefront during this critical time in a child's life. Playing is a priority, and learning to work and being read to will accomplish good things as a child gets older. There should be a rich learning environment and a family culture of self education in a TJed home.

Liber Academy is a family school, so when a scholar and their parent (acting as a mentor) attend, there will be a place available for younger siblings. Our Core phase classes change from year to year, so needs are assessed as membership evolves. Generally, our core classes are as follows:

Cosmos - Ages 0-3

Unstructured play, reading, games, music, arts and crafts

Classes for these little people are structured around the needs of the kids involved and at the direction and inspiration of the mentors for the year.

Builders - Ages 4-8

For those in the core phase. The first hour will focus on nature, study, and science. Second hour is focused on movement and games. Around the World class will learn about a different country each month through art, music, culture, food, traditions and more.

Literature based: a popular literature-based homeschool curriculum (Five In A Row) that uses books from children’s literature to teach lessons in social studies, language arts, applied science, math, and art is the inspiration for these age group.
